Are you wondering why the Swedes are seldom found cruising the Mediterranean during the summer months? This is most likely because they already have a fantastic sailing area in Sweden.

Darkness for 3 hours a night

The sailing season in Sweden is relatively short however the days are very long. Additionally, from July to September darkness comes for just 3 hours a night in high summer. This shortage of night makes cruising extended distances simple as there is almost constant daylight.

Sweden has a gorgeous coastline, sprinkled with unspoilt islands. Swedish-style revolves around a way of life which is very much connected with nature. During the summer months you will find clean beaches, sheltered waters and your very own deserted islands. Visit the many coastal fishing villages and enjoy the fabulous seafood restaurants, and bars.

Sail the waters of Lapland and go onshore to experience the weird and wonderful geology of the High Coast. Perhaps Stockholm, with its many islands, will satisfy your curiosity about how well Swedish people live? Most areas have great restaurants and bars. Furthermore, there is plenty of choice of adventure or nature loving activities.  With over 24,000 islands in the Stockholm archipelago, it is no exaggeration to say that you will be spoiled for choice.

Medieval Sweden

If you want to step back in time and visit medieval Sweden, then set a course for the Baltic island of Gotland. This perfectly preserved island boasts a medieval town called Visby. Additionally, the nearby island of Öland is famous for its ancient Viking settlements and the oportunity to sample some Swedish island life.

Great Food

Although excellent food and a high standard of living can be found almost anywhere in Sweden, you might want to make your way to the West Coast. Famous for its fabulous shellfish including lobster, oysters and sizeable prawns. In Gothenburg, there are several Michelin-starred restaurants. The west of Sweden is sensational. You will find a warm welcome, where ever you sail.

Islands

The coast is the western archipelago has more than 1,000 islands. Many are decorated in pink granite. These beautiful islands and skerries offer a very enjoyable ground for your yachting holiday.
